Gate City Squad - Suit Up (Official Mixtape)

TooSickMuzik sponsored album right here from Gate City Squad. The New Hampshire based group just dropped the 10-track project today. It's full of quality from the production to the lyrics to the sound of the songs themselves.

Too Sick: "What If" | "Never Let It Go" | "Dreaming"

So Sick: "Everything" | "Lifestyle" | "Set It Off"

Sick: "City Lights" | "My Time" | "One Reason" | "So Fly"

Few comments on my top songs....

"What If" - This was one of the two leaks from the tape appearing first in early June. Still arguably my favorite on here. I've always been a fan of 'what if' type tracks where the artists contemplate past events.

"Never Let It Go" (ft. Tarik) - They speak on several topics here but it really focuses on the hard work each of them have put in to get where they are today. Really enjoy the second verse in particular.

"Dreaming" (ft. Jeff Blair) - The other of the two leaks (video here). Starts off with a movie quote from 'Remember The Titans' which is always a nice touch.

"Everything" - A simple piano beat twisted up with a little bass is simple yet always seems to work, and it does here. The powerful vocals here elevate the song. Dedicated to a fallen friend.

"Lifestyle" - Tells the story of a popular girl that's all about herself yet is caught up in a lifestyle that she doesn't want the attention anymore.

It's no telling the guys from Gate City Squad all have talent in their own respective areas. It's difficult to categorize them in a single genre. The lyrics are hip-hop but they have a strong rock influence. Think perhaps Linkin Park mixed with some Kinetics & One Love, but even that doesn't nail the style on the head. I definitely stand by the work and proud to have been a sponsor. Download it for free below.
