Too Sick Muzik Unsigned Freshman Class of 2011

Every list I've seen I don't agree with so I decided to make my own Too Sick 2011 Freshman Class.  First, I set some rules for this.  I didn't include any artists out there that are signed.  I also capped the age limit at 25. These eleven artists are in prime position to make huge leaps in 2011.  The list is in alphabetical order because I know nobody would believe me if I said I put them randomly.

Check out the Trailer below with a minute from each artist.

UPDATE: JULY 2011

Aziz: He jumped on the scene in 2010 with his two mixtapes Point of You and Leave Me Az Iz. I was a bigger fan of the first so we'll see what direction he goes in with new material.  Can a kid from New Hampshire be a force in the genre or just attract a college crowd?
Update (7/2011): Aziz has been somewhat quiet the past few months. He has been hard at work on his next mixtape 'Daydreams of a Spaceshot' that is due out any day now. The two leaks, "Bring A Dutch" and video of "Right Now" both look promising. He also shot a video for the track "Haley's Comet" off his mixtape 'Leave Me Az Iz'.

Bobby Fischer: Potential, desire, and drive to succeed are all there with this kid.  His first mixtape The Best Kept Secret was a bit raw.  His next work Intellectual Hoodlum drops March 27th and promises to be more polished.  Very new to the game and needs guidance.  Can he take his dedicated hometown appeal to the bigger stage?
Update (7/2011): Bobby Fischer released 'Intellectual Hoodlum' and while it did not disappoint musically, it did not receive the response anticipated. After a brief hiatus the kid is back making more music. An unknown project 'Seven Day Theory' is set to drop, well not really sure when but it is.

Chris Webby: It's a huge upcoming year for Webby.  Going from performing at c Aollege parties to collabing with Joell Ortiz and Big K.R.I.T. was a huge step in 2010.  But in parts did he step out of his comfort zone a bit with Best In The Burbs?  It crashed DatPiff (which is unreal) but The Underclassmen tape to me was better.  Possesses unmatched freestyle skills that you can view on youtube for hours.  Can he deliver us new content in his rhymes or have we already seen the best he has to offer?
Update (7/2011): Much of 2011 Chris Webby has spent touring the nation. He has picked up more fans than ever at this stage. While currently working on his first official album, he released 'Webster's Laboratory'. The tape is a step up from his last. Aside from that, Webby has been quieter than years past. No surprise since he was constantly releasing free music for years and now is focused on getting signed.

Gee Watts: If you haven't started paying some serious attention to this guy then you best start.  I'll start with some site stats.  His "$$$ Freestyle" is the #3 #2 most downloaded song so far in 2011 site wide.  His "MOnster Freestyle (Honest)" was my #42 favorite song of 2010.  So what these are all freestyles right?  Then he turned around and delivered us "Based On A True Story" from his #Throwaways mixtape, which is flat out incredible.  Get ready for a Pre-Dopamine mixtape and his Dopamine EP out on Itunes April 5th.  Can he handle hooks or is his music always one straight flow?
Update (7/2011): Gee Watts has done nothing but improve his stock since earlier this year. After much anticipation he released his first official project the 'Dopamine EP' and it did well. Since then he hasn't slowed down and is surely climbing up the ranks of KC hip-hop. In addition to collabing on many artist's solo projects, he also just released '#Throwaways Vol. 2' where he did his thing slaying up instrumentals. Not to forget, he made two videos, for "Get Money" and "Coo Widit".

Giovanni Keyz: Keyz may have the most experience making music outta this list.  I heard of this kid before creating the site since I went to school in New Jersey.  Not until recently with his Advantage 2 mixtape did it seem that he really perfected his craft.  Now he's heavy on my radar.  Can he continue his growth as an artist and be the next big thing out of NJ?
Update (7/2011): Keyz as usual is always hard at work and that hasn't changed this year. In early May he released his mixtape 'Back 2 Tha Essence' capturing the roots of hip-hop with a slight modern twist (all entirely produced by BenThruAlot). A month later he released another tape entitled 'June Leaks'. The workaholic will be dropping 'July Leaks' soon and has more 'leaks' planned for the rest of the year.

Hank G: The youngest on this list.  Has an extreme amount of talent.  Is able to go literally H.A.M. or harness that for slower tracks.  Word is once he graduates high school this summer the focus will completely be on music.  Expect a double mixtape release with one being industry beats and the other original production.  If you have heard what I have then you know the sky is the limit for this kid.  Needs management and good people around him.  Can an Alabama kid reach the masses?
Update (7/2011): Graduating high school hasn't been the only change in Hank G's life because his music has been under a transformation as well. After releasing two massive mixtapes ('Ghost Rider' & 'Graytness I') it's easy to tell he is improving more and more. The kid loves to drop music outta nowhere so I doubt many people know the direction he's heading for the rest of the year.

KB The Kid: Really has turned it up recently.  His last two tracks "Hero" and "Last Call" were absolute hits.  He seems to be doing it right now and makes sure the music is perfect before releasing it.  Stick with the original production.  Expect to see his next tape Destined soon followed by a mini-tape of party songs called On My White People Sh*T (<<<<smart).  Can KB take Nebraska and make it listen to hip-hop?
Update (7/2011): SIGNED! In June KB The Kid was signed to a record deal thanks to the success of his album/mixtape 'Destined'. Congrats and good luck in the future. You can also check out his video for "Go Hard".

Moufy: His debut mixtape City Dreamin' surpassed my expectations.  Has only been rapping for a little over 6 months.  Still a bit rough around the edges and people will love him or hate him because of the different sound in his voice.  I say since when has that ever been a bad thing?  Snoop, Biggie, Eminem and many great artists have very distinct different voices.  Possesses great story telling ability.  His next work has been promised to be even better then the first.  Can Moufy make Boston relevant in the hip-hop genre?
Update (7/2011): Like others on this list, Moufy has taken a slower approach to 2011 and has been building up his fan base locally by performing shows. His mixtape 'Boston Lights' is set to drop in early August. The two leaks, "Boston Lights" and "Pick It Up" have surely built up anticipation. Most recently he released an incredible video for "Miss Newton" from his last mixtape 'City Dreamin''.

Olu: The Bowling Green college kid records all his music in his dorm room.  Not in a studio.  You wouldn't even know it by the sounds he puts out.  He has an insane flow with a voice that can create every type of track.  Also creates beats in his spare time.  Confidence is not an issue and he is clearly skilled musically.  His "Dorm Room Freestyle (Pour It Up)" was #20 on my top 100 of 2010.  Is this all just a past time or will we see more official music in the future?
Update (7/2011): After releasing his mixtape P3, Olu has leaked a few singles/freestyles including five songs for his '4/20 Drops'. Aside from those he has been quiet and one can only assume he's hard at work on another mixtape.

Split Second: This is a group of three.  The quality level of their tracks ("Blood Diamond" at #9 in top 100 of 2010) isn't matched by many.  They can appeal to a wide variety of listeners because they make all sorts of music.  After venturing out with a few dubstep/techno remixes they are back to making real hip-hop.  New mixtape on the way soon.  Can their talent be appreciated by more then just college kids?
Update (7/2011): After the hype stemming from "Blood Diamond" (and video) these guys released the mixtape 'Barely Legal'. The project was very much a success. Since then not much has been heard.

Yonas: Extremely polished with his music.  Unfortunately seems to get lost in the list of sick NYC artists.  His material seems to be deeply thought out and planned prior to release.  Simply needs to reach a larger audience.  Can he survive in a mainstream environment or forever will stay underground?
Update (7/2011): Yonas released his official album 'The Proven Theory' and it has received a good response. The single "Radio Flow" has been an absolute hit and may arguably be his finest to date. Whispers are it's only a matter of time before he inks a deal.

If The List Were Longer: Soulfully, Me | FowL | Guy Harrison | P. Dukes | Erik Paul | LikeMic | K-Black | Dub Money | Mr. Focus

Because of how I selected the eleven above I did not include guys like Big K.R.I.T., Yelawolf, Kendrick Lamar, and other artists on the XXL list.  To me a lot of those guys have already 'made it'.  If you are an artist that didn't make this list you can get pissed off, or go make music to prove yourself.  In some cases I simply haven't heard enough material to consider other artists that are out there.  Feel free to lash out at me about how I'm wrong and stupid in the comments section or send all submissions to toosickmuzik@gmail.com.

I consider SON ahead of these artists career wise and because of his age (I think he is 26?) I left him off. Trust. SON is an unbelievable rap artist that if I had to write down my top 10 artists out of the entire genre he would be on it.
